Kigali, Rwanda (December 19, 2023) – Mchezo, was proud to be one of the partners of the 13th East African Inter-Parliamentary Games held in Kigali, Rwanda, from December 8th to 18th, 2023.

The games,  organized by the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), brought together Members of Parliament from seven East African Community (EAC) countries: Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan. The gathering aimed to reaffirm shared historical, cultural, and sports experiences that contribute to the cultural and sporting identity of the EAC partner states.

As a company dedicated to nurturing the power of sports and technology across Africa, we saw the Inter-Parliamentary Games as a prime opportunity to champion our mission. This partnership wasn't just about supporting a sporting event; it was about fostering connections, engaging with key stakeholders, and showcasing Mchezo's unwavering commitment to African sports development. 

Ntoudi Mouyelo, the Managing Director at Mchezo, expressed this during the opening ceremony: “These games not only offer our policymakers and the public a chance to engage in a more relaxed way for the socio-cultural growth of the region but also a networking opportunity to move difficult or important conversations forward for a vibrant sports ecosystem. "

Mchezo Roundtable discussion

On the sidelines of the games, Mchezo hosted a roundtable discussion that engaged various House Speakers and key decision-makers from EAC nations, laying the groundwork for future partnerships and initiatives aiemd at sustainable sports development across the region.

As the official partner of the 13th edition of the Inter-parliamentary, we joined the closing ceremony festivities, witnessing the culmination of the games and the crowning of champions in different sports disciplines. We also handed out some of the awards. The evening featured a dinner and awards event, where Mchezo Chief of Staff Jean Luc Cyusa presented an award to the Uganda volleyball team.

By supporting the Inter-Parliamentary Games, we have reaffirmed our belief in the potential of sports to unite communities, drive economic growth, and foster a brighter future for Africa.
