Transforming Lives: Mchezo Celebrates betPawa Dream Maker's Borehole Project in Kitui

Kitui, Kenya - Developing the sports industry on the African continent starts with putting the community itself at the forefront of everything. In a significant stride towards community empowerment and development, our brand betPawa, has unveiled a new solar-powered borehole in Kanduti, Kitui County, Kenya. This initiative, part of the betPawa Dream Maker campaign, marks a transformative change for the local residents, who previously endured long treks in search of water.

A Lifeline for Kanduti Community

The newly drilled 300-feet borehole is set to serve over 3,000 residents, significantly alleviating the hardships they faced. Before this intervention, the community depended on a seasonal river, requiring them to walk over 10 kilometers to access water. This borehole brings not just convenience but also hope and better health prospects to the people of Kanduti.

Sammy Mwanza, a local resident who dreamed of setting up this borehole, expressed his gratitude: “This is a win for the Kanduti community. I am grateful to the entire betPawa team and everyone involved in making this dream come true.” Despite his efforts, Mwanza had been unable to raise sufficient funds for the project, making this achievement particularly poignant.

To celebrate the borehole’s inauguration, Mwanza was gifted 70 seedlings by the community, symbolizing their commitment to environmental conservation and efforts to attract rain to the area.

Realizing Dreams for Community Betterment

The betPawa Dream Maker campaign, which began in 2021, is designed to help individuals realize their aspirations that benefit the broader community. Participants can submit their proposals online or offline, allowing the campaign to reach diverse populations across the continent. To date, it has received over 15,000 proposals covering sports, business, and social projects.

A Sustainable Approach to Water Security

The completed project encompasses a comprehensive water solution for the Kanduti community.  A newly constructed solar-powered borehole ensures a reliable and sustainable source of clean water.  The project also incorporates a 10,000-liter water tank, pumps, and a piping system to guarantee efficient water distribution throughout the community.
